The New Year is almost upon us and I am thinking what can I do to make my life better in 2012. Let's start with the flow of energy in my house. Look very carefully at which parts of your house are cluttered and messed up.

Those are probably the areas associated with your personal life that are not too great. Our number one job is to clean up clutter. Yes I am a paper clutterer and am going through boxes of papers that I did not file or throw away. The save-it-for-later disease creates so much stress in our lives. I am planning a garage sale for next weekend. Have to get rid of some of the old energy I am holding onto.

So you live in a small house (that is of no historic significance) with a vaulted ceiling with wood panelling that is stained brown. Once upon a time the look was all cozy and cuddly but it is time to paint and update.

I find that brown ceilings tend to close in a space and make the room seem smaller. I think when you update a room it is important to be courageous and use a trusted source to help you make decisions. The only way I would handle the brown ceiling is to paint it the same lighter color that the walls are going to be painted. It is possible to paint it in a semi-gloss or if you choose the same finish as the walls. The minute the paint job is done, your room will feel brighter and bigger!
